Dear SAEVA Members and Guests,
It is my pleasure to welcome you all to Skukuza venue for annual 50th SAEVA Congress. This is a true gem of our beautiful country and hopefully you are able to enjoy every bit of the wildlife as well as the educational material on offer by the distinguished guests who have given up their valuable time to share with us in the spirit of ‘The Past, The Present and The Future’.
The 2017 Congress Organising Committee has done amazing work to arrange so many of our international friends, who have spoken here before to be part of this truly unique Congress. The topics are varied and are an excellent representation of current Equine Practice not only in South Africa but also internationally. A big thank you to my wingman Terry Casey as well as Michael Hewetson and Roy Gottschalk for this program including the wet labs.
The Congress Organising Company, Vetlink, lead by Madaleen Schultheiss has achieved a mammoth task in organizing this our flagship and milestone Congress with a record number of international speakers and delegates as well as a fantastic turnout of our trade partners. Capping it with a much anticipated Gala Evening.
As you peruse the convention centre please take your time to engage constructively with our trade partners who have gone beyond the call of duty to be here this year in such large numbers. A special thanks to trade partners who have taken it upon themselves to sponsor our speakers and the Gala Evening that will a ‘Spectacle’ of note.
To my committee, thank you all for sharing our renewed focus on Membership Value, driven by Communications, Education and Promotion our Profession. The Core executive, Committee Chairpersons and Regional Representatives well done for ‘getting involved’.
To our Young Members Group who have taken the initiative in becoming members of SAEVA for the first time. We welcome you with open arms and embrace the youthfulness you will bring to SAEVA.
Lastly, but by no ways forgotten I would like to thank our founding members as well as all members who have over the years contributed in making this a world class organization. What is amazing is that this has been achieved in the spirit of camaraderie, truly in the spirit of the EPG.
‘Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.’- Leo Buscaglio
Best wishes for a great Congress 2017
